Gauge

With smaller needles 24 stitches over 16 rows in 2 x 2 ribbing [k2, p2]  = 4 x 2”

With larger needles and pattern for swatch *NOTE this is DIFFERENT than the pattern for the hat! 16 stitches over 12 rows = 4 x 2”

Finished Measurements

Small 18” Circumference, 10”Height

Medium 20” Circumference, 10” Height

Large 22” Circumference, 10” Height

There is approximately 1.5” positive ease for each size hat. 

Notes

The cable for this pattern produces a tightly woven fabric, hence the larger needle size. If you need to go up another needle size or two (depending on how tightly you knit) that is OK. Save time and check gauge!
